Known for its deep colour and full-bodied taste, dark ale boasts rich malty tasting notes and complex aromas. All dark in colour, from deep ruby to dark mahogany.

Why is dark ale so dark?

This is a result of using roasted malts during the brewing process, which also provide a distinct flavour. It can also be achieved using caramelised sugars.

What do dark ales taste like?

Tasting notes range wildly. Our Poulter’s Porter is known for its coffee, vanilla and slightly liquorice tasting notes. Whereas our popular Landlord Dark provides a smooth, creamy taste with toffee aromas.
